Salt River High School Seniors Supporting Soldiers
by Jessica Brown, SRHS Teacher
04/20/2008
On April 19th and 20th, students from SRHS joined together at the Pavilions at Indian Bend in a fundraising event for our troops overseas. Everyone participated in two days of washing cars and water wars outside of Discount Tire. Generous donations were accepted from supporters of our troops. Funds raised will be used to purchase much-needed care package items for soldiers currently deployed.
SRHS students will be out at the Wal-Mart on Chaparral and Pima at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3rd, for the final fundraising event of the year.

Update 05/05/2008
I just wanted to send out a note to let you know that our students (more than twenty of them) did an amazing job over the past few weeks with the carwash service project. Three days of hard work (and a LOT of water fights!) resulted in nearly $600 for our care packages. We will be working with some friends at the Army recruiter office to identify items most needed, and will shop sometime in the next two weeks for everything we are going to send overseas. I am so very proud of these young ladies and gentlemen. This has been an incredible year, and many of our students have begun to see the value in selflessness, generosity and kindness of spirit. I hope that they, as well of all of us, continue to “pay it forward,” as often as possible.
