08/26/2008 - Salt River Elementary is taking part in Kids Voting. Kids Voting is a program that teaches the process of voting, the principles of democracy, and the importance of making your own choice. Kids Voting teaches children that they can make a difference. The choice that they make is their voice and it can be heard through voting. The students at Salt River Elementary will be the voters of tomorrow!
On Tuesday August 26th , the school voted on their favorite subject; Math, P.E. or Music. It was the responsibility of the students to vote at their recess time. The students signed in, received a ballot, and voted. After the students voted, they received a sticker and a red, white, and blue pencil that stated “Good Citizen.”
The students are already asking when our next voting day will be held. It will be on Tuesday September 9th, 2008. The SRES students will be voting for SRES Student Council Officers.
270 SRES students voted and the results of today’s voting are:
Music - 123 votes - WINNER
PE - 99 votes
Math - 48 votes
