Salt River Tribal Youth Conference - Day Two

In this section Salt River Tribal Vice-President Martin Harvier welcomed all the youth that were participating in the second day of Youth Conference.He encouraged the youth to continue to be out going and to be priund and take advantage of the lessons being taught at the confernece and to take care of the buildings and facilities that the community has provided for them.
Youth Conference participants gathered together for a more intense meet and greet and to display some of the talents and skills they learned the day before in hoop dancing.
The School Resource Officers, Officer States, Flores and Sergeant Wellington were on hand to teach a class in the dangers of Alcohol and Drug abuse and the effects on the body, mind and spirit.
Youth were divided up into different groups and given the time to prepare proposals, ideas and questions to the visiting members of the Salt River Tribal Council and Tribal strategy team members. Some of the concerns ranged from gang violence within the community to Graffiti and vandalism in and on homes and tribal properties and Teen pregnancy issues.
As a gift for participating, conference organizers gave the visiting members of council and strategy team Youth Conference Hoodies and all youth that signed up and came to all two days of the conference and participated also received the Hoodies.
At the end of the conference day, the youth participates were all entered into raffle drawing for an iPod, laptop, bike, digital camera, printer and much more.
