Both Parent Educators are on the First Things First Teen Parenting Work Group which consists of members from Salt River FACE, Salt River Early Childhood Education Center, Salt River High School, Salt River Social Services, and other community resources. The group will provide services for teen parents and teen prenatal mothers in the community.
The FACE Center based program has new Adult Education teacher who is very familiar with the FACE program. Victoria Manymules helped to start the FACE program at Salt River, and has much knowledge about FACE.
We presented a hands-on activity at the Salt River Fatherhood program. Six families participated in the recruitment activity. We have also presented information about FACE at the Fatherhood Conference on October 17, 2009.
FACE parents and the SRES choir entered a float in the NARD parade in Phoenix in October. The float won 3rd place. The FACE parents were happy to put the effort into creating the decorations for the float.
The FACE program received their annual technical assistance site visit from the FACE/NCFL/Parents as Teachers team. The two day visit went very well, and the Salt River FACE team was commended by the visitors for the leadership and administrative support the Salt River FACE team has, the strong teamwork, and the overall strength of the Center based and Home based programs.
The Salt River FACE program served 27 families in August and 37 families in September. This includes both Center based and Home based programs.
