Food Service Program

SRPMIC-ED Food Services Director

The SRPMIC Schools have a Wellness Policy. The policy has been approved by the Education Board. Academic achievement is dependent on the overall health and nutrition of students.

The Wellness Policy addresses three important things. These are:

  1. School meals and other foods that are available in the schools,
  2. Nutrition education and diabetes prevention, and
  3. Increasing physical activity of the students.

All of the community schools are limiting the amount of salt, sugar, and fried foods available to students. Some foods are no longer allowed at school. Students may bring food from home, but the food must be checked by adult staff. Substitutions will be offered if the food from home contains items that are banned at school.

All adult staff are encouraged to be good role models for healthy food habits.

We encourage parents to visit the school cafeterias. We are looking for parents to participate in the many parent committees and activities offered at the schools. If you wish to review the entire Wellness Policy, contact the Food Service Department at 480-362-2084 or any of the school nurses.
