The Teaching and Learning Department supports the strategic alignment of standards-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment that communicates clearly to all stakeholders what students are learning and achieving.
The department acts as a resource to the Pre-K through Adult Education programs by providing staff development, assisting in professional growth plans, facilitating articulation between and among grade levels and content areas, and directing curriculum development that focuses on student growth and achievement, and the specific needs of Salt River students.
In addition, the Teaching and Learning Department:
maintains a professional library accessible to all education department employees
facilitates Community Schools Curriculum Process and Procedures; Community Schools Student Assessment Plan; Community Schools Professional Development Plan; Community Schools Curriculum Development and Program Evaluation
facilitates the K-12 textbook adoption process
provides the training and support for the annual pre-kindergarten through 12th grade curriculum development projects
organizes a schedule of top notch nationally known trainers for professional development that focuses on student growth and achievement needs and culturally relevant instruction
