The Superintendent Stakeholder Committee met on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the ECEC. There was a lot to talk about, including information about the new Truancy Ordinance, Higher Education funding, disciplinary procedures at the schools, what's happening at the ALA, and so much more.
Salt River Schools leaders presented important information about their programs. Unfortunately, the slides were created with a much bigger screen than what was available - that was an oversight on our part, for which we are truly regretful. Click here to view the presentation clearly and in its entirety. We'd also be happy to print one for you at the EDU Admin building. Again, we apologize to those in attendance and appreciate your patience.
The end of the meeting concluded with an important conversation about an incident that impacted SRES on 9/11. You can read the letter that went to families that day here, but the issue was the school received a threat on Facebook/Meta that was reported to police the evening of 9/10. Salt River Schools Administration leaders became aware of the threat the morning of 9/11, and with advice from police, decided the threat/risk was minimal and continued the school day as normal, including a planned event for Grandparents Day. The conversation at the 9/15 Stakeholder Meeting centered on whether or not Salt River Schools leaders should have made a different decision after receiving a threat on social media. Decisions regarding the safety of students and staff at Salt River Schools are made in alignment with local authorities; we appreciate the care and understanding of all involved and promise to uphold our commitments to health and safety.
As always, we appreciate the time, effort, and candor of stakeholders who attend not only these meetings, but also stay informed and connected throughout the school year. With your help, Salt River Schools and the students and families we serve will thrive.
We need collaborators. We need action. We need you. Join us to speak up, step up, and make a difference for our students, families, educators, and our Community. Click here to review information and discussion points from previous stakeholder meetings.
