Here’s a roundup of what’s happening this week, plus a look ahead at the rest of the month. Be sure to check out this month's newsletters, and, as always, please refer to our main calendar page (bookmark this!) for more information about these and other events/announcements.

  • The afterschool Spring Eagles Club begins today at Salt River Elementary School. Questions? Call 480-362-2400.
  • The ECEC Policy Council meets Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 5:30 p.m. in the ECEC Gathering Place (MS Teams option also available). These meetings are open to all ECEC families.

Next Monday, January 16, is a holiday. Salt River Schools will be closed in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A few more things to take note of:

  • Due to the holiday, the Education Board will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 5:15 p.m. These meetings are always open to the public and we’d love to have families participate and learn about our Division’s decision-making process. Click here to learn more.
  • Talk About Tuesday is scheduled for ECEC parents/guardians on January 17 from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Join ECEC staff for breakfast and connections and an important conversation about preparing Head Start students for KINDERGARTEN! Click here to view the flyer.
  • Thursday, Jan. 19, is also the Soda With Security discussion about suicide prevention and awareness hosted by the Safe Schools & Security team and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. The event will be held in the ALA Lecture Hall from 5:30-7 p.m. Dinner will be served! Click here to download the flyer. Soda With Security events are free and open to all!

SAVE THE DATES! We’ve got a few big events heading our way in the coming months and we’d love for families to join us!

  • Monday, Jan. 30: Higher Education applications due for students wanting to attend a vocational schools with start dates of February, March, and April. Click here to learn more.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 31: O’odham and Piipaash Storytelling Night. Click here to view the flyer. A light dinner will be served while supplies last. Our students (and ENLC staff) will be telling stories to guests and can't wait to share what they've learned with you!
  • Wednesday, Feb. 1: World Read Aloud Day – more information to come!
  • Tuesday, Feb. 7: Kindergarten Roundup – more information to come!
  • Tuesday, Feb. 21: Salt River Schools Community Forum – more information to come!

Remember that being to school on-time every day is important for all students, whether they’re in preschool or high school. If your family is struggling with student attendance, please call your child’s school and we’d be happy to assist you! We are so proud of the progress our students are making and know this semester will be full of many successes!
