There are several events coming up. As always, please refer to our main calendar page (bookmark this!) for more information about these and other events/announcements.

Please share our public events with others!

  • Tuesday, Feb. 21, is the Salt River Schools Education Board meeting beginning at 5:15 p.m. These meetings are always open to the public and we’d love to have families participate and learn about our Division’s decision-making process.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 22, is the SRES Sunflower Run from 8:45-10 a.m. along Highland Avenue (students run from Center Street to Country Club Drive and back). SRES families are encouraged to walk/run alongside the students or cheer on participants from the sidelines. Check out this short video from November’s Turkey Trot Fun Run to get an idea of how these go. (The more folks we have out there cheering on runners/walkers, the more fun we all have!)
  • Thursday, Feb. 23, is the Salt River Schools Superintendent Community Forum in the ALA Lecture Hall from 5:30-7 p.m. We’ll serve dinner (while supplies last, so get there early!) and have a meet-and-greet with Dr. Herne during the first part of the event; then we’ll review site/program goals and the latest student data. See flyer below.

  • Tuesday, Feb. 28: Parent Night with School & Community Relations. This event is free and open to ALL SRPMIC parents/guardians. There will be raffle prizes and light refreshments. Discussion topics include summer school, grade transitioning, summer activities, setting/following routines and expectations, and self-care. Questions? Call 480-362-2534.
  • March 13-17: Spring Break!
  • Thursday, April 6: Education Fair in the ALA gymnasium from 4-7 p.m. More details to come!

  • Nominations sought for the Arizona Humanities K-12 Educator Award! This award recognizes an outstanding K-12 educator or staff/administrator who engages students through creative, humanities-based school programs. Submission due date is March 17. Click here to nominate someone today!
  • There are a ton of other awards programs out there recognizing educators of all stripes. The Arizona Department of Education keeps tabs on several happening throughout the year. Check it out
  • Encourage the students and families you work with to sign up for the Salt River Family Read Aloud Challenge? From now through May 3, Salt River families are challenged to read 25 books over three months—there are lots of chances to win fabulous prizes! Each family will receive a Read-Aloud Family Journal to record the books and stories they read. This is open to ALL SRPMIC families.

We hope you can join us at these events – your participation and support is so appreciated! Have a wonderful week! Questions? Give us a call at 480-362-2500 or email [email protected].
