  • Wednesday, March 1: Car seat checks will take place every first and third Wednesday of the month (March-May) from 7-9 a.m. in the ECEC drop-off lane. No appointment needed! Contact Melinda Hansen at 480-362-2206 for more information. Click here to view the flyer.
  • Thursday, March 2: Every First Thursday of the month is College Wear Day for all staff and students at Salt River Schools. This initiative began several years ago as a fun way to promote higher education. It's so fun to see students rocking t-shirts, hats, socks, pins, ties, and whatever else shows off that college spirit.
  • Thursday, March 2: The ECEC invites all adult male figures involved in an ECEC student's life to join us for Burritos for Dad, a meet and greet event with Life Enhancement and Resource Network Fatherhood Program staff. Stop by for breakfast, stay for the conversation, and discover how your involvement and participation will benefit your child's education experience. Questions? Call or text 480-241-1854.
  • Friday, March 3: Join Higher Education staff, as well as featured guest speakers within and around the Community the first Friday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon via MS Teams. The Higher Education First Friday Chats are open to all and feature important information about college and career-related topics, including applications, funding, scholarships, counseling, and so much more!

SAVE THE DATES

  • Thursday, April 6: Our annual Education Fair will be held in the ALA gymnasium from 4-7 p.m. The theme is “Exercising Minds, Bodies, and Spirits,” and we’re really excited about the 60+ exhibitors that will be doing fun activities with our participants. Join us for a BBQ dinner, awesome prizes, special guests, and more!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • There are lots of literacy-themed events happening this week. If you’re visiting the ECEC or SRES, for instance, you’ll likely see some fun costumes and story times going on. Check out the ECEC flyer and the SRES flyer.
  • The Early Childhood Education Center is accepting applications for Early Head Start (prenatal-3 years), Head Start (3-5 years), and their Home Based program (prenatal-3 years). The ECEC promotes early learning, development, health, wellness, and family partnership. Applications are available at the ECEC campus or at ECEC.SaltRiverSchools.org. For more information, contact Jessica Holmes, Enrollment Technician, at 480-362-2222.
  • RESCHEDULED: The SRES Sunflower Run will take place Wednesday, March 22, from 8:30-10 a.m. along Highland Avenue (students run from Center Street to Country Club Drive and back). SRES families are encouraged to walk/run alongside the students or cheer on participants from the sidelines. Check out this short video from November’s Turkey Trot Fun Run to get an idea of how these go. (The more folks we have out there cheering on runners/walkers, the more fun we all have!)
  • If you haven't yet, sign up for the Salt River Family Read Aloud Challenge? From now through May 3, Salt River families are challenged to read 25 books over three months—there are lots of chances to win fabulous prizes! Each family will receive a Read-Aloud Family Journal to record the books and stories they read. This is open to ALL SRPMIC families.

We hope you can join us at these events – your participation and support is so appreciated! Questions? Give us a call at 480-362-2500 or email [email protected].
